YO CITI PLANT STAND

As I said, I would put some more info on the YO CITI task up.
Most of us know that global warming is a big problem that we get told to help with every now and again, we've watched Al' Gores movie we've had presentations on recycling at school etc. etc. We've all been there, and quite frankly it's a mission to actively do something, it takes time and commitment.
So here's my idea: To have a kind of pot holder that maximises the amount of plants per meter squared, IE. more oxygen per meter than before as the plant holder will have levels.
I was initially aiming for the high density areas with small and restricted spaces, such as high rise buildings with small balconies.
I have been working on it for bout 4 weeks now and can positively say that it has come a long way, initially it was relatively boxlike but has since morphed into a slender elegant form with arms that swivel 360 degrees, it will hold 12 pots of different sizes.
To me it would be so much easier to allow most people to own these pots and let them unconsciously help, than let them do nothing about global warming and the environment at all.

My blog showcases as much of my design work done at St. Andrews College, Grahamstown as I possibly can get a hold of. Here is a piece we did last term. What were given was the word R.E.D.D, it could be the colour, it could stand for something, it could be pretty much anything infact.

After careful thought and after pondering this concept for a fair while, I decided to make some thing to help people who live for the outdoors, and more importantly love picnicking and having a good time outdoors.

Now what I noticed while in Australia on holiday, was that people were constantly trying to balance drinks on the lawn and keep them safe from being bumped over. Eventually they resort to holding them. But what most people know is that the Aussies love their beer, and what they love more is ICE COLD BEER. Yes, by holding the drinks they ultimately made their drinks warm.

My solution to this?

To manufacture a Really Easy Drinking Device. A device that would hold the drinks, all the while keeping them safe and out of harms way, allowing the Aussies to do what they enjoy, be it lazing in the sun, playing a spot of beach cricket or playing a touch of footy in the park. My device would put an end to wastage, broken glass, and warm drinks. R.E.D.D... Really Easy Drinking Device

Our New Task.. 'YO CITY'..

Yup that is our official next task. 'Yo City'.
What we have to do is pretty much show how young designers AKA us, can create a change in society, be it now, in the future.. any city any place. we have to show that we can make a change, a positive change.. more on this later...

It`s up and running!

Wow! What better ways are there to expose yourself to the outside world than this. Newspaper adverts cost money, brochures take time and effort, yet here I am sitting telling you how I feel about this thing called BLOG. Pretty ingenious actually.

Anyway, that was that... the reason I actually set up one of these Blogs was for can you believe it, school. Yes, for our grade 11 design task we have to incorporate a technological aspect into the task, i.e BLOG. first I thought it was relatively stupid, but then I realised.. EXPOSURE to the world, People can see what you've done, who you are and what you are about. now it all makes sense, we are pretty much marketing ourselves to you, the reader.
